2010 Media Release
BE IN THE RUNNING FOR FORESHORE FUN
Entry to the 2010 Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run on Sunday 6 June is now open with the event being touted as one of the State’s most scenic running events.
The ten-kilometre course, which hugs the tranquil Pumicestone Passage from Golden to Bulcock beaches, takes entrants through the spectacular scenery at Kings and Shelly beaches before climbing over the Moffat Headland to the finish line.
There is also a testing 3km run for those who prefer a shorter distance. For families the 3km family walk over Moffat Headland is a great way to start a Sunday morning.
Event spokesperson Sean Lever advised it is this picturesque scenery and the family friendly atmosphere that has seen the event continue to grow in popularity each year since its inception in 2005.
Sean says, “If you’re going to take on the challenge of a 10km fun run, it’s good to have a few distractions along the way. The stunning Caloundra foreshore scenery, inviting waves and popular cafes provide plenty to take your mind off the run.”
He adds, “Of course, with great prizes on offer and the fitness benefits of enjoying a day in the fresh air and sunshine, there are plenty of incentives to take part in the fun run this year.”
The run is open to both male and female entrants, serious runners or those looking for a fun family walk. The event’s prize pool consists of $500 for first prize, $200 for second prize and $100 for third prize for both male and female entrants regardless of age category.
Entry in the 3km fun run starts at $5 for primary school students, $10 for entrants in the open category and $20 for families. Entry in the 10km run is $25. The 10km entry fee includes a t-shirt for all runners registered before race day.
All funds raised from the fun run will benefit the Parents and Friends Association of local primary school, Our Lady of The Rosary.
