2015 Media Release

3 JUNE 2015

Many runners from around the Coast are counting down the days for the annual Caloundra Foreshore Fun being held on Sunday 21 June.

Touted as one of the State’s most scenic running events, the Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run offers a 10km Foreshore Run as well as a 3km Run and Family Walk.  With registrations starting at $7.50, it is also one of the more economically friendly running events on the Coast.

Online registrations have been gathering momentum and will close on Wednesday 17 June. 10km runners will need to register online to receive a free event race singlet. Limited cash registrations will be taken on the day of the event.

This year the Fun Run is hosting a health, fitness and lifestyle Mini Expo on Saturday 20 June, coinciding with Race Pack collection between 1-4pm at Our Lady of the Rosary primary school on Alfred Street, Caloundra. Many small businesses within the sector have been invited to set up a stall to showcase their wares. There will be information stands, fitness gear, food and sports injury therapists available. The initiative behind the Mini Expo is to promote a healthy lifestyle within the community. The Mini Expo is free of charge and open to the public – everyone is welcome.

The Fun Run remains first and foremost a community based event organised predominately by volunteers. “I have been involved with the run for 11 years now,” says event spokesperson Sean Lever. “The sense of community that the event brings on race morning is what it is all about for me. We live in such a wonderful part of the world, the runs and walk showcase just how blessed we are. There are no other events in Caloundra that brings so many families together in such a healthy and positive environment.”

Entry into the 10km run is $35 per person. Participants of the 10km run can also nominate as part of a  team when registering. Entry in the 3km fun run starts at $7.50 for primary school students and $15 in the open category. The 3km family walk is $22 allowing up to six members to be registered.

For the serious runners, the event’s prize pool consists of  $500 for first prize, $200 for second prize and $100 for third prize for both male and female overall winner in the 10km foreshore run. All entrants go in a random draw for a range of fabulous prizes.

All funds raised from the run will benefit the Parents and Friends Association of local primary school, Our Lady of the Rosary.
