2012 Media Release

One of Caloundra’s most popular annual events – the Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run – has been boosted by a major sponsorship deal with Stockland.

The three-year commitment will see the event renamed the Stockland Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run.

Registrations for this year’s event – to be held on Sunday, 17 June – have already opened with organisers expecting another great community turnout.

The 10km Foreshore Run along Pumicestone Passage takes entrants through spectacular scenery including that of Kings and Shelly beaches.

Runners climb the Moffat Headland to the finish line. There is also a testing 3km Fun Run for those who prefer a shorter distance. For families, the 3km Family Walk over Moffat Headland is a perfect Sunday morning outing.

Stockland has increased its commitment to Caloundra this year with the launch of its new Bells Reach community, a gateway to the planned Caloundra South community.

Stockland Project Director for Bells Reach, Ben Simpson, said the Stockland Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run encapsulated the Sunshine Coast lifestyle – active, family friendly and a stunning natural setting.

“The choice of foreshore run, fun run and family walk offers everybody a chance to be involved with the Pumicestone Passage providing a beautiful backdrop,” Mr Simpson said.

“Our three-year sponsorship arrangement reflects our commitment to the Caloundra region and will safeguard the future of this event.’’

Chairman of Stockland Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run, Sean Lever, said the generous support from Stockland would keep this community event’s entry price at affordable levels.

“Anybody who wants to be involved should visit our website, www.caloundrafunrun.com, to complete their registration form,” Mr Lever said.

“The money raised last year funded Our Lady of the Rosary’s permaculture garden program, maintenance of the oval and also laptops for students. We hope to make another significant donation following this year’s event.’’

Bells Reach is located adjacent to the existing Bellvista community and close to the Caloundra CBD, with 30 per cent of the site dedicated to green open spaces.

Families will benefit from Village Park with adventure playgrounds, barbeques and kick-around spaces, all connected by kilometres of pathways and bikeways.
